Delivering “a fresh and unique perspective on the world” this month Monocle celebrates bringing ‘Quality Journalism’ to our eyes and ears for the past 5 years. From what started as a magazine the brand now branches into shop fronts (or Embassy’s as they put it), live and inspirational forum’s and a 24 hour radio station.

Created by a gentleman of inspiration TYLER BRÛLÉ, Monocle is one of those publications you want to be all over. Check monocle.com for more.

Are they on Facebook … Of course, however you won’t find much there and i’m thinking it may have a little something to do with the beautiful comment that in Monocle’s words “a good conversation over a glass of chilled white is the kind of social media we believe in”

Inspired by the Dalai Lama

Someone asked the Dalai Lama what surprises him most. This was his response.

“Man, because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; He lives as if he’s never going to die, and then dies having never really lived”.

Just came across a shaving razor subscription service, an amazing idea where you receive razors to your door on a monthly basis

Gotham. The well-rounded type.

by Jarryd on December 20, 2011 · 0 comments

Celebrating the attractive and unassuming lettering of the city, Gotham is an engineer’s idea of “basic lettering”. Inspired from traditional urban signage that took the form of paint, plaster, neon, glass and steel, Gotham deliberately evokes the blocky no-nonsense, unselfconscious architectural lettering that dominated the american landscape from the 30s through to the 60s. Gotham represents a hard-working typeface for the ages.

Gotham Rounded a nice alternative to the Gotham family. A new typeface that feels familiar. A serious typeface that can play cheeky. Straight forward and non-negotiable Gotham Rounded is a ’rounded’ sans-serif font with geometric structure that carries an honest tone and fresh masculine presence.

Commisioned by GQ in 2000, Gotham is the brand font of Tom Ford and notably his film ‘A Single Man’.

A gentle reminder to write about this man. Founder of Wallpaper and Monocle, a personal favourite, Tyler is a curator of good taste.

An amazing quote from the late Steve Jobs that speaks for itself. Alot has been said about the man in recent news, but there’s no denying his vision and creative genesis that has played a significant role in the development of technology.
To be loyal to just one brand these days is quite unheard of… I can honestly say Apple is the one brand I am loyal too.

“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and your life is just to live inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much, Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.” – Steve Jobs.
